Convert MOV to MP4
MOV is what an iPhone records into, and it usually holds exactly the video an MP4 wants. That means this is often a rewrap rather than a real conversion.

Your MOV probably does not need converting at all
MOV is Apple's container, and when your iPhone fills one it writes H.264 or HEVC video and AAC audio into it. Those are precisely the streams MP4 is built to carry. The two files are, in the part that matters, already the same video; it is sitting in a different box.
So the honest answer is that most MOV to MP4 jobs are not conversions. The streams can be lifted out and rewrapped as an MP4 in a couple of seconds, with the picture coming out bit for bit identical, because nothing was ever decoded. Our remuxer does exactly that, and if it works on your file you should use it instead of this page.
A real re-encode is only necessary when something inside genuinely has to change: usually an HEVC video that the place you are sending it to will not accept, in which case it needs to become H.264. That is slower and costs a little quality, and it is what this converter is for.
Why nothing uploads
Other tools send your video to their servers, which costs them money per file, so they add watermarks, cap file sizes, and make you sign up. This tool does the work right here in your browser using your own device. Your file is never uploaded, so there is no wait, no watermark, no size limit, and no account.
Questions
- Why is my iPhone video a MOV?
- MOV is Apple's own container, and the Camera app records straight into it. The video inside is ordinary H.264 or HEVC, which is why it converts to MP4 so easily.
- Will converting lose quality?
- If the streams can be rewrapped, no quality is lost at all, because nothing gets decoded. If a genuine re-encode is needed, some quality is traded, though we use settings where that is hard to see.
- Should I use the remuxer instead?
- If you only need the file to be an MP4, yes. It takes seconds instead of minutes and does not touch the picture. Come back here if the remuxer says the streams will not fit.
