No upload, and no catch
Most online video tools run on a server, which costs them money per file. That cost comes back to you. Here is the difference.
Most online tools
- Upload your video to their servers
- Add a watermark to the result
- Cap the file size unless you pay
- Make you create an account
- Keep a copy you can't control
Vidtools
- Processes everything in your browser
- Never adds a watermark
- No file size limit beyond your device
- No account, no email, no signup
- Your file never leaves your device
No upload, ever
Your video is processed in your browser and never sent to a server.
No watermark
Clean output every time. What you make is yours, unbranded.
No signup
No account and no email. Open a tool and start immediately.
No size limit
The only limit is your device's memory, so large files work too.
Fast in your browser
Hardware-accelerated processing keeps things quick, right on your device.
Private by design
We never see your files. There is nothing on a server to leak.
How it works
Add your file
Drop, pick, or paste a video. It stays on your device the whole time.
Choose your settings
Set a target size, a format, or a trim range. Simple, plain controls.
Download
It processes on your machine, and the finished file lands in your downloads. That is the whole flow.
Local only
Your file never leaves this device
Because Vidtools does the work on your own machine, there is no server bill to pass on to you and nothing sitting on a hard drive we control. That is what makes it private, and it is why it can be free.

Common questions
- Are these online video tools really free?
- Yes. Every tool is free with no account, no trial, and no paid tier for exports. The tools are supported by unobtrusive display ads, not by charging you.
- Do I need to upload my video?
- No. Every file is processed in your browser, on your own device, and is never sent to a server. There is nothing on our end to store, leak, or hand to anyone.
- Is there a watermark or a file size limit?
- No watermark and no artificial size cap. The only limit is what your device's memory can handle, so even large files work.
- Which video tools are included?
- Nearly forty tools across five groups: editing (trim, crop, resize, merge, split, rotate, speed, reverse, loop, boomerang, fades, watermark, subtitles), compressing and converting (including instant remuxing), social media tools (status and story splitters, a video upload checker, a TikTok safe zone checker, horizontal to vertical conversion, progress bar overlays), audio (extract, convert, trim, boost, add music, ringtones), and GIF and image tools (video to GIF, GIF to MP4, compress, resize, reverse, slideshows). Each runs entirely in your browser.
- Do these video tools work on mobile?
- Yes. The tools run in any modern mobile browser, so you can compress or convert video on your phone without installing an app.
Guides
Video size and length limits for every platform
Every platform enforces two limits, a size cap and a length cap, and most of them enforce a third one they never tell you about: the quality they will re-compress your video down to once it arrives. Here is what each one actually allows.
Why your video will not upload, and how to fix it
Upload errors are famously unhelpful: a red toast, a generic message, or a spinner that never finishes. Behind all of them there are only a handful of actual causes, and each one has a specific fix.
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM: which one should you use?
Almost every piece of confusion about video formats comes from one mixed-up idea: people treat the file extension as if it describes the video. It does not. It describes the box the video came in.
How to compress a video without ruining it
Compression is a negotiation between size and detail, and most people lose it by pulling the wrong lever. Understanding what the encoder is actually doing makes the difference between a clean small file and a blocky one.
Aspect ratios and safe zones, explained
Getting the shape of the frame right is half of making a video look native to the platform it lands on. Getting the safe zone right is the other half, and almost nobody thinks about it until something important is hidden.
