How it works
- 1
Add your GIF
Drop, pick, or paste the GIF. It stays on your device.

A resized GIF that still animates and loops.
Resizing a GIF is not the same as resizing a photo
Scaling a GIF down means resampling every frame and then rebuilding the color palette, because the pixels that existed at the original size no longer exist at the new one. Blend two neighboring colors while shrinking and you have created a third that may not be in the palette at all, which is how a careless resize turns clean graphics into a speckled mess.
Doing it properly means resampling the frames first and then quantizing the result, rather than trying to preserve the original palette through the scale. That is what this tool does, so edges stay clean on flat artwork and gradients do not acquire new bands they did not have before.
Halving the width and height quarters the pixel count, and the file usually falls by something close to that, which makes resizing the single most effective size reduction available to a GIF that has to stay a GIF. Enlarging works, but it cannot invent detail, and a GIF blown up past its native size will look soft.
Change GIF dimensions in the browser, with no upload
The GIF is read from your disk, resized on your machine, and written straight back to your downloads. Nothing is uploaded, there is no ceiling on the size of the file, and no watermark is added to the output.
The aspect ratio is held by default, because a stretched GIF is almost never what anyone wanted. Unlock it only when you genuinely need a specific frame shape and are willing to accept the distortion that comes with it.
If the goal is a smaller file rather than specific dimensions, the GIF compressor gives you the frame rate and palette levers as well, and converting to MP4 will shrink it further than any resize can.
Why nothing uploads
Other tools send your video to their servers, which costs them money per file, so they add watermarks, cap file sizes, and make you sign up. This tool does the work right here in your browser using your own device. Your file is never uploaded, so there is no wait, no watermark, no size limit, and no account.
Questions
- Does resizing keep the animation?
- Yes. Every frame is scaled and the GIF is rebuilt with a fresh color palette, so it animates and loops exactly as before.
- Will a smaller GIF also have a smaller file size?
- Substantially, file size scales roughly with the pixel area, so 50% width is around a quarter of the original size.
- Can I make a GIF bigger?
- You can type any width, but enlarging can't add detail, a GIF scaled up will look soft. Shrinking always looks clean.
- Does my GIF get uploaded?
- No. Resizing happens in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
- Is there a watermark?
- No. The resized GIF carries no watermark, and there is no ceiling on the size of the file you start with.
